Stafford’s Chocolates
âThe beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic created both challenges and opportunities to those businesses willing to seek assistance and information. While facing an uncertain future, Staffordâs applied for SBDC assistance. Vincent Salinas, a business consultant, was a guide and mentor throughout the process. He was particularly helpful navigating through the misinformation and rumors surrounding the process and long-term consequences of the loans.”

Larry Stafford opened Staffordâs Chocolates in Porterville, California in 1987. During the next 20 years Larry became a premier chocolatier, creating old school chocolate confections and earning several awards. Larry passed away in 2006 and his family ran the business until the Taylor family purchased it in 2011. Staffordâs has maintained the same traditional techniques. At a time when smaller mom and pop chocolate shops are going out of business across the country, Staffordâs continues to grow at a steady pace and has attracted the attention of various actors, musicians, foundations, and large businesses. From wedding favors, corporate gifts and welcome packages, Staffordâs has found a niche outside of the local market.
